33rd memorial service for body donors

 The 33rd memorial service for people who donated their bodies for dissection was held in the lecture hall of Matsumoto Dental University (MDU) on Saturday June 10th. The donors' families, university staff and many students (mainly second year students who received lectures and training in gross anatomy) attended the service. They gave their sincere gratitude to the twenty-two people who donated their bodies for the development of dentistry and offered prayers for their souls.

7th Dental Technology Research Association meeting

 The 7th meeting of the Dental Technology Research Association was held in the student hall of the library building on Wednesday June 14th. The association was set up to develop new equipment and systems for dental services through collaboration between local educational institutions and local businesses. The chair was Professor Ito, lecturer of the Dental Materials and Technology course and coordinator for partnership between academia and industry. Four MDU lecturers gave presentations on the requirements of research and development in dental services.

Poster presentation of studies in PBL seminar

 Seven posters prepared by freshmen showing what they learned during their PBL oral science seminar have been on display in the student lounge since Wednesday June 21st. The students selected the themes they are interested in for their presentation and wrote a summary of what they learned. The purpose of the poster presentation is to motivate the students to learn, by displaying the posters to a large number of people.

Deciding clinical training locations

 Clinical trainee dentists who have completed initial clinical training will undergo further training at MDU and other dental institutions for four months from July 1st. To decide which trainees go to which dental institutions, representatives of dental institutions that accept clinical trainees met the trainees in the student hall of the library building on Sunday June 18th.

Interim presentations by postgrads

 The 4th meeting for the interim presentations by postgraduate students of the Graduate School of Dental Science was held in the seminar room of the MDU Institute for Oral Science on the second floor of the training building on Wednesday May 31st. Attending were about fifty people including lecturers and postgraduate students. Five postgraduates in their third or fourth year of studies presented their research using a projector. Each presentation took about between fifteen and twenty minutes, followed by a lively question and answer session.

Second-year postgrad, Keita Moriyama, presents research at GRS meeting

 Keita Moriyama, a second-year postgraduate, presented his research titled "Maxilla teeth of sicyopterus japonicus from the viewpoint of dentistry" at a meeting of (GRS) the Gori Research Society at Yokosuka City Museum in Kanagawa Prefecture on Saturday 27th and Friday 28th of May. Mr Moriyama performed the research in collaboration with lecturers at the Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo. Mr Moriyama used 3-D image data from micro CT in his presentation. The Gori Research Society is named after the common name of the freshwater goby.

School trip of MDU School of Dental Hygiene

 MDU's School of Dental Hygiene second-year students went on a school trip to Tokyo Disney Resort and China Town in Yokohama, etc. between Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th June.

Lecturer, student, parent meetings

 The first set of meetings between lecturers and students and their parents for this academic year were held on 17th and 18th June aiming to enhance students' life through collaboration between lecturers, students' parents and the students themselves. Students and parents listened intently to what lecturers were telling them.
