　The president, Mr. Wenqing Cai, Prof. Lei Zhang (tissue embryology) and vice president, Mr. Li Guo Wang of Hebei Medical University, a sister university of Matsumoto Dental University (MDU) located in Hebei Province in China, visited MDU on Thursday, September 21st. Mr. Cai, Prof. Zhang and Mr. Wang met Mr. Yasushi Yagasaki, who is the chairman of MDU's board of directors, as well as other members of the board, and enhanced the friendly relationship.

　Prof. Toshifumi Morimoto was nominated to be the eighth president of MDU at a meeting of MDU's board of directors on Monday September 25th. Prof. Morimoto accepted the position and became the president on October 1st. Prof. Morimoto is also the dean of the dental department. Mr. Yasushi Yagasaki, who worked as the chairman of MDU's board of directors and as the seventh president of MDU became an honorary president on October 1st.

　MDU accepted delivery of two new buses which will run regularly on set routes. On Thursday, September 21st, a ceremony was held with prayers for their safe operation.
Bus services and routes have been increased and now the buses are used by MDU students and staff for commuting, and by patients to visit the MDU hospital.

　Starting this academic year, common examinations which are the pre-clinical training examinations of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology are performed at MDU. Ninety MDU fifth-year students had CBT (computer based testing) on Tuesday, September 5th and OSCE (objective structured clinical examination) on Saturday, September 16th.

　Training was given to MDU's Anti-harassment Committee members and to MDU staff appointed as harassment counselors on Thursday, September 7th. A feminist counselor was invited to lecture at the training where participants learned the state of mind of victims and counseling methods. The participants also performed role playing based on an example of harassment.

Medical service inspectors from Matsumoto Health Center inspected Matsumoto Dental University Hospital on Thursday, August 31st. They examined the hospital staff, facilities and management generally and provided advice.

　An MDU Alumni Association seminar was held in the student hall of the library building on Sunday, August 20th. Prof. Kitetsu Shin of Meikai University School of Dentistry presented a lecture titled "Basic and Practical Periodontal Regeneration Treatment". Prof. Shin talked about present periodontal regeneration treatment and future possibilities with clinical examples and provided plenty of information.

　MDU hospital held an examination to select clinical trainee dentists for the fiscal year 2007 on Saturday, September 9th. The examination, consisting of a paper test and an interview, was given to 188 MDU sixth-year students.

　Dr. Raorao Wang from the Shanghai Pediatric Dentistry Association (a joint research group) returned to China. MDU Institute for Oral Science has an agreement for academic exchange and friendly collaboration with this association. Dr. Wang worked at MDU as a guest researcher for one year from September 14th of last year to September 13th of this year.

　Single rooms became available for students' parents, MDU staff and visitors at the student hall of residence, Campus Inn, from Sunday, October 1st. Campus Inn has good facilities and amenities and is pleasanter than many hotels.
