
・Institute for Oral Science
The Institute consists of three divisions: the Division of Hard Tissue Research, the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Biology, and the Division of Oral Health Promotion. Eleven research units have been arranged under these divisions. The Institute aims at training researchers who have a synthetic view of the high technology and the dental professionals who can find solutions for the medical subjects of the present age, such as advanced dentistry, aging, fixed prosthodontics, and gene therapy. Also, this institute serves as the base organization of the graduate school of oral medicine.
・High-Tech Center
The center, which belongs to and adjoins the Institute for Oral Science, was established in April 2003. The building, with three stories above ground and one story beneath ground level, is the common research facility for the Department of Dentistry, the Institute for Oral Science, and the Graduate School of Oral Medicine. The high-tech apparatuses, which consist of the newest and most powerful electron microscopes, experimental facilities for gene manipulation and the related laboratories, have all been installed in this building.
